A Little History...

On January 1, 2007, the bishop of the Diocese of San Jose, His Excellency Patrick Mc Grath, put Our Mother of Perpetual Help Oratory under the directorship of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. The Oratory is located in Santa Clara, a city which neighbors San Jose, at 1298 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95050. The Mass in the Extraordinary Form continues to be regularly offered there. The Oratory's current rector is Canon Jean Marie Moreau, ICKSP, and its chaplain is Father Pedro Ottonello, OAD.

Earlier this year, Canon Moreau began working in cooperation with the Diocese of San Jose in order to have, in addition to the Mass offered at the Oratory, a Mass in the Extraordinary Form offered at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church in San Jose. On Mother's Day of 2009, May 10, Canon Moreau first offered the Mass in the Extraordinary Form at Five Wounds. The Mass complemented well the church's elegant interior structure and design, as well as its grand high altar, and the response of the faithful who attended was positive.

Beginning September 6, 2009, Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form has been offered every Sunday at 9:15 AM at Five Wounds Church. The church is located at 1375 East Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA, 95116. Canon Jean Marie Moreau normally offers the Mass and the pastor of Five Wounds, Father Donald Morgan, graciously hears confessions during the Mass.

You are invited to come discover the richness and beauty of the traditional Mass for yourself. May God bless you.
